Here are a few things you can do

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing back, I hope things would have got much better for you when you find this mail.

The way you have got this sudden swelling without any real trauma it seems that tou either have.

1) Tendinitis of thay figer.
2) Episode of gout( less likely)

This can be controlled by following things.
1) Keep it immobilized and take good amount of rest.
2) Take brufen 400 mg thrice a day this will reduce inflammation along with oain reduction.
3) Rub NSAID Gel of cream over the area to relieve pain and inflammation.
4) Ice it, which you have already been doing, continue it.
5) If that doesnt start to get better in 2..3 days if keeps getting worsened contact your doctor immediately he might want to give you a pain killer or steroid shot and run some tests to give you appropriate medicine.

Till then avoid foods high in proteins and dont use Aspirine in high dose.

I hope this answered your question if you have more please feel free to ask.
Stay blessed.
Wish you the best of health.
Regards.
Dr.Muhammad Ahmad
