Suggest Treatment For Pain After Fall And Suffering From Arthritis

default
Posted on Mon, 29 Sep 2014
Question: I have arthritis, fibromyalgia, severe bad back so the pain could be from all those but I fell out of a tall bed onto my right side and my leg was twisted. My husband had to straighten my leg so I could get up. I had bruises but I keep saying my right bottom buttock hurts, bad. What could it be? The fall happened a couple of weeks ago.

Brief Answer:
Arthritis

Detailed Answer:
Good evening mam. Sorry to hear about the fall. It does sound quite bad.

as you have described, after the fall you had a twisted leg which had to be corrected by your husband.

Well i do want to know, how s your condition now.

1. Apart from pain, are you able to walk properly? Or you have to limp while walking

2. Does your pain get better with rest or does it remain the same

3. Did you get any x ray or MRI done for it

What i feel , is that you may have sprained a muscle or ligament. But since you twisted your leg , i would wanna rule out any fracture or dislocation of the hip joint as well. It does not look like fracture since 2 weeks have passed or else the pain would have been intense. But yes the possibility of dislocation which could have sprained your ligaments is still there.

Do let me know these queries. I would be able to guide you further with it

Take care

Regards

The pain does not get better with rest. It hurts and almost keeps me from walking when I do get up from resting or sleeping. It has not gotten better with time and seems to be worse. Normally, I walk with a limp and use my walker or cane so I can't say this has made that part worse. I have not seen a doctor for this as I thought it was bruised but no bruise last this long or hurts like this. Also, I go to doctors quiet often and did not want to brother them if no problem.

Detailed Answer:
Good evening. Well i think you need to consult an Orthopedics doctor. Pain present even at rest, and after an injury does favor some form of dislocation of hip joint which had happened after the fall..and it sprained your ligament or some hairline fracture. That s why the pain killers are not working that well. You can try some other NSAIDS ( which ever you can tolerate) as they may work better

You may need to undergo an X ray of the hips and MRI as well. But let your doctor decide that.I will suggest not to delay it and get it checked up

I hope the information was useful.

Take care
