Question: Muscle spasm in mt right buttocks. Only when I stand or walk. Sudden onset. I have had hip surgery for a fractured femur (Feb 26) and this is the first time these spasms have occurred ( just today). I am taking Tylanol. The pain can be severe, kind like of kidney stone attacks years ago.

Brief Answer:
Hello. I understand your concern here

Detailed Answer:
This is likely from a pinched nerve in your lumbar spine and for now rest and ibuprofen can help.

If this continues for more than a day or two you need to see your doctor for an MRI scan of your lumbar spine to look for a ruptured disc.

If that's the case, I would refer you to a physiatrist--a physical medicine and rehabilitation MD specialist--for a customized treatment plan that should help.
