Suggest Treatment For Lump Around The Tibialis Anterior

default
Posted on Thu, 16 Jul 2015
Question: I have had a lump/bulge sore area around my tibialis anterior (I looked up the muscles and tendons) for 6 months. It started out painful and was a times red -now its just there and hurts with exertion (walking especially). It feels like pressure building up and have started wrapping it with tape. The pain will mysteriously subside during a walk also. Elevation and rest help - compression seems to - but only when I walk (for exercise). My Doctor isn't worried about this and at first called it an overgrown muscle and/or tendonitis. The lump is large and hard like a muscle. I was doing a lot of squats and lunges, when it started. But I had a cervical fusion and replacement in March and have been walking only for 3 months and some light rehab with very low weights

Brief Answer:
It is likely to be tendinitis of tibialis anterior.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for choosing healthcaremagic for posting your query
I'm Dr. Sudhir Kumar,
I have gone through your question in detail and understand your concern. It seems to be tendinitis of tibialis anterior tendon. It can be treated by rest and analgesic such as ibuprofen.Vitamin B and C help in recovery . I found good results in resistant cases by local triamcilone injection in tendon sheath. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it. You can further investigate it by MRI of the region.
Hope I have answered your query.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer for me, so that I get a good feedback.
