Posted on Thu, 16 Jun 2016
Question: Hi there-

Ive been noticing that lately ive been having more in-grown hairs in the pubic region. Lately, ive been taking a lot of cycling classes at the gym and I think they're getting irritated as there is a small amount of blood at times. They do seem to go away, but im wondering why this is happening more now. Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Ingrown hairs

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

I am sorry to hear that you are being bothered by ingrown hairs. This is directly related to your current increase in exercise program. What is happening is that during your exercise the hair in your pubic area is rubbing and breaking off at the skin line. Then the hair regrows catching the skin and becoming infected. To prevent the ingrown hairs try wearing less restrictive clothing during exercise. The trauma to the hair maybe less and then less hair breakage.

I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions

Brief Answer:
Ingrown hairs

Detailed Answer:
Treatment for ingrown hair would be keep the area clean with soap and water. You can unroof the individual hairs before they get infected and you could use topical polysporin when they get infected.
