Posted on Tue, 31 Oct 2017
Question: What causes hip bursitis? Also, I lost 82 pounds within six months after my doctor discontinued my elavil and Wellbutrin. I take steroid injections in my back every two to three months. I have gained 36 pounds since May 2017 to September 2017. My diet has not changed. I take the following drugs: Geodon, Depacote, Xanax, Lexapro, Protonix and Pravastatin. Are the medications making me gain weight? Lastly, the epidural injections contain 45mg of steroids.

Brief Answer:
Steroids seem to be responsible for this!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I can understand your concern,

The continuous steroids injection is the likely cause of the weight gain. Please discuss this with your doctor to see if the drug can be discontinued or not.

Do continue with exercise and dietary measures to help limit the amount of weight gain for the time being.

I hope this addresses your worry. I wish you well.
Feel free to follow up with me if need be.
