Question: I started having problems with my blood pressure 6 months ago. I have tried 6 medications. I wound up in the hospital with a reading of 220. I am on amlodipine, carvedilol and chlorthalidone. My readings are still going from 143 to 154 to 170.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
We need to modify your antihypertensive. Carvedilol and chlorthalidone are not very effective alone on blood pressure.
I would advise you to continue amlodipine 10 mg once a day and start tab Telma CTD (40/12.5) once a day which is a combination of telmisartan and chlorthalidone. If taking amlodipine in the morning then have this in the evening. You can continue carvedilol, and later we can taper it.
You should have a healthy lifestyle like avoiding fatty, oily and high calorie diet. Have low salt diet and monitor blood pressure regularly thrice a day for one week then once or twice a week. Regular exercises like brisk walking, jogging according your capacity atleast 30 min a day and 5 days a week. Hope this helps you and get back if you have any doubts.
