Brief Answer:
Severe Hair fall

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic,
Severe hair fall of short duration is usually due to acute telogen effluvium. This is usually due to stress either physical or psychological around three to four months prior to the onset of fall. Examples of such stress includes fever, operation, accident, death in family, delivery, severe job stress, family stress, shifting to new place, crash dieting etc. Even anemia (low hemoglobin) and thyroid abnormalities can cause telogen effluvium. Good news is that this is a cycling defect of hair and usually it recovers spontaneously in 3 to 6 months time. Shampoos do not make any great deal of difference, however I will recommend a mild shampoo ( eg: Triclenz shampoo or Kerawash shampoo).
I recommend you to do Hemoglobin and TSH to rule out anemia and hypothyroidism. If these are normal the treatment of choice for telogen effluvium is nutritional supplements containing biotin, calcium pantothenate , amino acids and anti-oxidants daily once after food for 3 months (eg: Tablet Keraglo XXXXXXX or Capsule Adgain ).
Hope this helped,
Take care.
