Question: Daughter has GIST. 42 years old Seems the DR is just maintain or trying to maintain her health. Does GJST just progress till the person expires? should she show some improvement. early on (she has had GIST for over 2 years)but growth is now showing slightly on her liver. DR has changed to a very strong dose of Gleevex. A Father that is 100 miles away and worried. any suggestions would help

But still Gleevec can be used to offer remissions if the growth in the liver is well localised amenable to surgical resection.

GIST is a cancer and hence is known to progress till the last stages of life.

Hence the overall outcome/prognosis is dependant on the the extent and number of liver growths.
