Question: Hi, for the past week I have been experiencing shock-like jabs on the side of my left foot. Small "ganglions" also appear. Pain is worse when my foot is elevated or in bed. (Last year a cherry-size "ganglion" - that's what i think it is - appeared after a quick shock and lasted about a year without pain) When the current condition started the burning pain lasted 36 hours. I took Aleve, ES Tylenol and sometimes a Tizanidine, Penetrex OTC cream and it subsided enough for me to get some sleep. The pain doesn't last that long now but sometimes the jab/burn can be worse than others. Question - what do you think it could be and should I see a neurologist or podiatrist? I have an appointment with a podiatrist this Thursday.

Brief Answer:
possible nerve compression from ganglion type lesion.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Healthcaremagic.com
I have read your query thoroughly.

* As per my clinical experience, the shock like jabs are possibly in relation with
underlying nerve compression from the ganglion type lesion.

I suggest primary relief with pain management as what you are doing nicely and consult podiatrist as per the schedule for further guidelines.

Welcome for further doubts.
Regards.
