Question: I have a hard bump on my hand only shows when I bend it, I been to a doctor yestersay said it was a ganglion cyst but didnt examine it just looked at it, would a doctor know for sure just by looking at it if thats what it is for sure ? it doesn't hurt but feels hard when I press on it, he told me it's nothing urgent or serious, but I am really worried, I did fracture the same hand when I was younger when I fell down the stairs and hit my hand on the floor...would that have something to do with it ? and how common are ganglion cysts do most people get this ?

Hi
I can understand your concerns.

Please upload a picture of the site.

Most common swelling as you describe it is ganglion cyst. But it might be something else also.

Is it growing in size?

Ok, if it does not hurt, do you think I will need surgery for it to go away ? or what kind of treatment is it ? I have anxiety and really worried about that

Brief Answer:
We need to confirm it.

Dear,

First we need to know what it is, then only we can decide whether you need surgery.

That is why i am advising you to show it to a orthopaedician.
