Brief Answer:
may cause constipation

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Anafranil can cause constipation in a small number of persons who use it but it is not normally associated with urinary frequency though persons react differently to medication.

You may not need to discontinue the medication. If you can counteract the constipation with lifestyle changes.

The lifestyle changes would include: (1)use a lot of water- at least 8 glasses a day

Caffeine, tea, alcohol cause the body to lose fluids so they are not counted as fluids

(2)fiber intake from fruits, vegetables,cereals
At least 5 servings of fiber daily.

If it is not possible to obtain fiber naturally then fiber supplements can be used- metamucil, cetrucil, benefiber

(3)physical activity is also important

In terms of the urinary frequency, you may want to rule out any other causes.
The most common causes would be: (1) infection,
(2)side effect of medication,
(3) increased fluid intake ,
(4) diabetes,
(5)cystitis (inflammation of the bladder),
(6)stones,
(7) mass in the bladder,
(8)detrusor instability (these are the muscles around the bladder)

Your doctor can examine your urine in his/her office. This can show if there is any evidence of infection.
By examining the urine, examining the abdomen and history, the exact cause may be found.

Depending on the findings, imaging may be needed.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
