Brief Answer:
Better to use probiotic instead of antidiarrheal.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Most cases of diarrhea are from benign self resolving conditions. I would not start antidiarrhea agent unless you have features of dehydration. Instead I will recommend you use probiotics - sporolac tablets thrice a day for couple of days along with oral rehydrating fluid (electral powder). And yes, you can use these while lactating.

Maintain good personal hygeine. Wash your hands thoroughly before feeding baby.

If loose stools persist beyond 3 days or if you find symptoms of dehyration, then worthwhile to consult a doctor and get stool tests done.

Hope this answered your question.

Brief Answer:
Preferably avoid it...

Detailed Answer:
Eldoper (loperamide) is an antidiarreal agent. It gets secreted in the milk in minute amount. There are no known reports that it will harm the child.

But since it gets secreted in breast milk, I will preferable like to avoid it unless there are features of dehydration.

So my opinion stands. I would preferably treat you with probiotics only. If symptoms persist for more than 3 days or if we notice dehydrating features then perhaps you can consider use of antidiarreal drug.

Hope I am clear.
