Suggest Treatment For Depression

Question: I've been taking antidepressants for approximately 15 years to treat depression. Recently I let my prescription run out because I moved from Illinois to Pennsylvania, and I don't have a psychiatrist here yet. I saw my doctor in Illinois once a year for a checkup, and she would give me a prescription for a year. The meds I should be taking are Bupropion SR 150mg and Sertraline 100mg. They've worked very well for me as maintenance for my depression. I didn't feel much difference when I first stopped taking them, but after a few weeks, I'm really feeling the effects: the depression, crying almost daily over nothing really, and sleeping much more. I definitely need to get back on them as soon as possible. Can someone please call in a prescription for me?

Brief Answer: You need to continue the treatment Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query. I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through. The fact that you were doing good on Bupron and Sertraline and after stopping you had symptoms of depression suggests that your depression has not been treated completely. You certainly need to be put back on the medicines. Sertraline acts on the serotonin system and bupron acts on the nor adrenaline and dopamine system and hence both augment each other to handle the situation. You need to be started back on the same drug, although it needs to be titrated gradually now cause it has been discontinued for long. Regarding the topic of prescription. As health care magic is an online forum, legally we are not supposed to prescribe medications without physically examining you. Such regulation are primarily meant for the safety of the patients as well as the Doctor. Further any prescription given in E-mail will not be honored by the pharmacy in your country. Sincere apologies for the same. However showing your old prescriptions even your GP may help you with the prescriptions. Then you can order your drugs from the online pharmacy of walgreens.com. Hope I am able to answer your concerns. If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
