Brief Answer:
Ususally a slow progressing condition

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.

As per your post, you are suffering from chronic backache that has flared up now. It may be due to early degenerative spine disease (lumbar spondylosis) with compressive neuropathy. This condition is diagnosed based on X-ray lumbar spine AP and Lateral view and MRI OF LUMBAR SPINE. MRI of spine also rule out other causes. I hope you have latest X-ray or MRI scan done to rule out the cause of back ache.

Now, this is usually a slowly progressing condition and there is treatment available in form of back exercises, Diacerine, glucosamine sulfate ,neurotropics such as methylcobalamin and analgesics. Sometimes if conservative medicines don't provide relief than decompression by operation is done and it relieve the condition.

Don't worry. There are treatments available. You can discuss about the options given with your treating doctor. I will be glad to exchange my views and help you deal with this ache.

Hope I have answered your query.
If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.

Wishing you good health.
Take care.
