Posted on Wed, 29 Jul 2015
Question: I am seeking help with chronic insomnia. I have tried numerous medications including Ambien, trazodone, Halcion, Restoril, Sonata, Lunesta over the past 7 years. I have tried everything, no caffeine after noon, no heavy activity 4 hours before bed, I don't have a TV in my bed room and I don't use my phone or computer in bed, I have a hard time going to sleep and staying asleep for longer than 3 or 4 hours. Can someone offer any suggestions for what I can do now?

lorazepam or clonazepam is good option

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

Your insomnia is likely due to secondary to gastric bypass surgery. It is chronic now. You have used Z group of sleeping drugs mostly. In benzo you have used only temazepam. These are not potent drugs for such chronic insomnia. I suggest potent and long acting benzodiazepine like lorazepam or clonazepam.
These are prescription drugs. You need to get written prescription of doctor to get this.
Insomnia is treated by psychiatrist. If you have not consulted psychiatrist yet , please go for it. Sometime insomnia can be there due to psychological problem also. Psychiatrist can evaluate that aspect.

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.
