Suggest Treatment For Chronic Eustachian Tube Dysfunction

Question: Hello doctor

I have suffer from Eustachian tube distorder for couple of years, the disorder is mild so I've been able to keep the block away with steam and histamines.

but I have bought myself a otoscope just to look inside my ear to see if every looks great;
on day I took a image and every looked great and another day; the eardrum look different; I don't feel any difference, is this just normal or is something else happening on my eardrum.

Looks like dry white skin on eardrum and the other pictures a from 1 month back or something like that.

the dry images is after washing my ears with audispray ( clean water rinse ) because I build earwax up really fast. So maybe the flakes are from that ??

I never had ear infection and any pain.

to be honest; if this are earwax flakes; it might be the problem that has cost me problems for years; because I have stiff nose sometimes; and blocked ears and then suddenly I can feel totally fresh for weeks and then it's bad and then it's gone away again. When the symptom are active I can have dull-hearing; but after natural treatment it returns to normal again and I have no hearing loss; did a hearing test few days back; hear like 24 years old.

might the white flakes be something that no one has seen and has cost me uncomfortable feelings and everything was just blamed on eustachian tube distorder ?

and maybe this can be cured with just natural treatments of oil ? or something ? ..

I shower alot, maybe that isn't making it better.

Im also a musician and I use a lot of earplugs. which doesn't make it better either.

Brief Answer:
Ear wax doesn't seem like a big concern. It is a normal process

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thank you for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

Wax formation in the ear is a normal physiological process in every body.It is secreted by the glands in the outer ear just like Sweat and Saliva is secreted by other glands in the body.It actually helps against infection.

Wax might be dry or wet in different people.

In most of the cases, it gets drained on its own during the jaw movements.

Looking at the images which you have attached, I can see the Ear drum in two cases, it seems normal. And in one image only outer canal is seen, it also seems normal.

I would advise you to avoid looking in the ear with the Otoscope if you have no complaints otherwise the wax in the ear will raise your concern. A physician or an ENT specialist Doctor is the only person to tell, whether it is normal or abnormal finding.

Dry wax can cause itching in the ear and even mild blockage. In such a case, you may apply Olive oil(don't use hot oil in the ear.It is to be used at room temperature) or Ear wax solvent ear drops in the ear,3 drops three times a day for around 7 days.It will liquefy your dry ear wax, which will get drained on its own.

Also, Don't try to clean your ear wax with an Ear bud as the Outer wax may get removed with the ear bud but the inner wax will get further pushed inside towards your ear drum. And there are also chances of trauma to the skin of outer ear canal.

Hope this answers your question.I would be happy to answer if you have any follow-up questions.

Take care.
