Question: My son fell and hit his head on the street last Wednesday. He still has a small knot on his head that is somewhat pointy. He said it itches around the area. I was wondering how long will it take for the knot to fully disappear. And is there anything that I should be worried about. And is there anything I can put on it to make it go down.

Brief Answer:
It will take two weeks to disappear

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in.

I have read through your query in detail.
From what you have written and after reading your earlier queries, it doesnt look like a serious injury. There might be some little bleeding in the forehead below the skin where he has developed a knot. They are clinically termed hematomas and may turn black and blue and take up to two weeks to disappear.

There is no need to worry if the size remains constant and if your son is his usual self and does not have any severe headache, nausea, vomiting, blurring of vision and drowsiness. You can put ice over the area occasionally.

Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
