Suggest Treatment For Bronchioalveolar Carcinoma

Posted on Fri, 23 Oct 2015
Question: Had a ct scan and found I have this nodule on my right lung. Dr thinks, 90% sure, that is BAC,, 10% is questioning whether its from a virus so he wants me to wait for 3 months and repeat the ct. He will have to remove 40% of my lung, so naturally he needs to b sure. He's assured me that if its cancer, waiting 3 months won't make it any worse since its a slow growing cancer, do you agree?
please note, I also have type 2 non-insulin diabetes

Brief Answer:
Yes i agree

Detailed Answer:
Hello Madam

Thank you for asking to HCM.

BAC(Bronchioalveolar carcinoma) is atypical form of bronchogenic lung cancer and it spreads very slowly unlike small cell cancer which spreads rapidly and has good prognosis(with surgery followed by chemo/radiotherapy)

Yes,you can wait and watch for 3 months and repeat CT would tell us the nature of the mass and extent of invasion clearly. As your Dr suggested, early resection of the nodular segments of the lung improves survival rate.

Maintain good glycemic control, though BAC is unrelated.

Hope this answers your query. If any doubts please feel free to ask or else close the discussion and rate it
