Brief Answer:
Better to consult a doctor directly.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to healthcare magic.

I have gone through your question. Although you have not described the symptoms of ear for which your doctor prescribed prednisolone. In my practice, I have never used prednisolone for infection. We usually use antibiotics.

You must be experiencing the allergic reaction to prednisolone. Although its rare, with limited history provided but its the only possible thing.

Kindly consult a doctor near by and get a check up.

Once you settle down with this emergency, you can get back and discuss with me regarding the ear infection and treatment and any other queries.

Wish you a speedy recovery.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
This chills might come down with time.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your follow up.

Secondary to common cold, you would have developed this condition called serous otitis media. This is not an infection. This collection of fluid in ear due to dysfunction of eustachian tube. The eustachian tube connects the ear with back of nose. This drains and ventilates the ear. So whenever there is cold or upper respiratory tract infection, it affects the function of the eustachian tube. This leads to collection of fluid in the ear.

Your doctor has advised you prednisolone to decrease edema of this tube, so that it can function normally. As an ENT surgeon, I see many patients of similar condition.

I recommend the following.
1) Antihistamine with decongestant, that is tab levocetrizine with phenylephrine. This will improve the eustachian tube function.
2) Oxymetazoline nasal drops to promote the ventilation of the tube.
3) Stop prednisolone, the chills must come down. Please discuss regarding these with your treating doctor.

Nothing to worry. You will be fine.
Wish you a speedy recovery. Take care.
