Question: I had an episode of blood in my urine last evening during work. I'm doing natural remedies such as garlic tea and lots and lots or water (distilled). I have discomfort on my right side towards the back. It has lessened today and have had no more blood show up in the urine. What kind of tests would need to done?

Brief Answer:
Urinary tract stones should be ruled out.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM

I have gone through your query. Episodic hematuria (blood in urine) can be symptom of kidney stones. Urine routine and renal ultrasound should be done to rule out this. Urine routine can give presence of macrohematuria or infection. Ultrasound will provide you an accurate picture. Blood routine and ESR should be done to rule out any associated inflammatory process also.

Garlic extract and echinacea extract is good for urinary infection. If infection coexist then it will be helpful.
In case of stones below 3 millimeter there is chance of expelling through urine by drinking lot of water.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
