Question: I have had acne especially on my chin since a long time now. I have taken Zetoxid, Lymecycline capsules 408mg and benzoyl peroxide creams but nothing has helped. The doctor says it is hormonal but why isnt it stopping? Contraceptives did not suit me so he gave me these medicines.

Brief Answer:
You need to try other alternative treatments.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care magic.

I am Dr. Shama and I will be answering your question.

I reviewed your history and I can understand your concern.

Acne is a common problem in your age and the common causes for acne are hormonal disturbances, infections, consuming foods containing fat....
The treatment options are use of antibiotics like clindamycin, doxycycline, Vitamin supplements like vitamin A, Antioxidants, hormonal tablets, steroids....

The treatment option depends on the underlying cause and the severity of the acne. Since you have tried antibiotics like Lymecycline and antiseptics like benzoyl peroxide and the acne have not responded you need to go for other options like vitamin A, antioxidants, steroids....

Do consult with your treating doctor or with your skin doctor and discuss with him regarding the options available and the treatment which suits best to you. Along with the medical treatment you need to avoid fatty foods, exposure to dust and avoid stress.
Since acne are basically age related problems which resolve with age the main aim is to prevent scarring and recurrence of the acne.

Hope the information is helpful to you.

Thank you
