Question: I have acne on my face (as diagnosed by a local dermatologist recently). I have dry skin and recall my skin was sensitive always such that excess moisture led to pimples or acne (but never severe). Over past two years this has become severe and I had to consult a doctor 2 months back. I have marks almost on all of my face of old acne/pimples and some new ones emerging almost every week.

Hi

I understand your concern regarding your skin problem and I hope I am able to help you in the same.
You seem to be suffering from adult acne .
Although I do not see any problem with the prescription given by your dermatologist,
I would like to have a look at the exact skin condition.
Please click some close up pictures of the affected area and upload them here on this page .
Also please tell if you are currently on any other medicines or supplements as well ,other than those for acne .

I am sure I will be able to help you better once you provide me the pictures along with the above details.

I am not under any other medication, however it would be worthwhile to mention that i did take whey protein suppliment 2-3 times in past 2 weeks post work out.
Please see my attached pictures of my face. Again to reiterate this is the first time in my life that i have got this problem to this extent. In past if this occured ever then it was restrcited to atmost one or two.

Hi again

I have seen the attached pictures.
You surely have severe adult acne along with post acne pigmented marks over the face .
Now although adult acne is s difficult to manage skin condition and requires long term treatment but we do see good results in most of the patients with regular treatment.
Kindly provide details of the treatment that you are currently taking ,as advised by your doctor .
In a patient with such a problem ,I would have given borh oral antibiotics along with topical anti acne agents .
Short courses of oral azithromycin usually help ,else the patient can be started on retinoids .
Please tell if you are currently applying any medicines ,else I can guide you regarding the same .
Also it is important that you avoid the intake of body building supplements completely right now .
Avoid hair oil and cold cream application.

Currently I have been taking Azhithral 500 mg thrice a week for three weeks, applying Galderma & Kojivit Plus cream alternately at night. Using Aha Glow face wash morning and at night. I was recommended Dr Reddy's Venusia Moisturizer which I am using. As I said it seem the mistakes i made were having protein suppliments a couple of times and also using hair oil.

Please suggest a remedy for quick prevention of acne.

Brief Answer:
Follow treatment as advised

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

You have been very rightly prescribed for your problem .
I would advice you to continue with the same treatment which you have been taking .The only thing is that you can add clindamycin cream and apply it once a day ,maybe in the morning over the active acne lesions .
Take care not to take the supplements again since they may aggravate your problem further .
Avoid using hair oil or cold creams .
I am sure this will help .
