Acne vulgaris most probably

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to HCM..

After reading history,it seems that most probably you may be having acne vulgaris. The acne lesions may be inflammatory. Before I advise you, I would like to see the photos of the lesions. So, kindly post the photos of affected areas...ok

Hi Dr. XXXXXXX

I have attached the pictures in the upload report section. In those you can see the pimples as well as some marks(need treatment for that too). but small zits are not that visible. Also i have a very oily skin. Someone suggested me to use face wash that contains salicylic acid. I am not too sure what that is and if its good to use. Please recommend some face wash.(In case you think Garnier Acne free is not good).

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Acne vulgaris

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome back..

I read history and saw the photos. You are right, you suffer from acne vulgaris. The lesions seem inflammatory. Acne vulgaris is a multifactorial skin disease. There may be multiple triggering factors which might precipitate or exacerbate the acne lesions. The triggering factors may be stress, anxiety, oily skin, oily food, hormonal imbalance, dandruff, cosmetics, drugs like steroid,iodin,isonex..etc

I would suggest following tips to improve your lesions..

- application of clindamycine gel daily on the lesions at night
- cleansing the face with antiseptic face wash like acmed face wash
- cap minocycline 50 mg daily or tab azithromycin 500 mg thrice a week
- tab zinc sulfate 200mg daily at night
- avoid or treat suspected triggers
- oily skin may be improved by regular face wash
- dandruff may treated by ketoconazole shampoo
- relax and have positive attitude
- have patience for the good result

You should take treatment continuously for long time under care of your dermatologist. You might get good response after few weeks to few months. The new lesions may be prevented with regular follow ups. After clearance and control of acne lesions, you may ask your dermatologist to have treatment for spots and scars.

I hope this would be helpful to you. If any queries, you may ask.

Thanks.

Hi Doctor,

Thanks for your consultation. I have few more questions.
In line to what you said Hormonal imbalance.
1) Would the medicines that you have recommended - (minocycline or azithromycin and zinc sulfate) would these treat my Hormonal imbalance(like production of extra sebum)?
2) How long do I have to take these medicines?
3) Once I complete the medicines course and the lesions have disappeared, is there a possibility of these coming back again?
4) Would these medicines diagnose the problem of Acne from the root? (Because I want these to be treated from the root and not just cosmetically).

Thanks again and regards,

Brief Answer:
Acne vulgaris

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I can understand your concern for permenant cure of acne. But, nobody can do it. There are always chance of recurrence. You have to take treatment for 6 months to 2 years under complete observation of dermatologist. You must not take treatment without consulting dermatologist personally..ok

This is not consultation. I only guide you.

- hormonal imbalance can not be normalised with Antiacne treatment. It means premenstrual exacerbation of acne.
- treatment for 6 months to 2 years may be required to improve and prevent the acne lesions. Exact duration is unpredictable. Personal examination by dermatologist may be helpful in determination of treatment duration.
- possibility of relapse of acne may remain in all patients who are prone to develop acne. One must take precautions to prevent recurrence of acne lesions.
- suggested medicine might improve or cure and prevent the acne lesions. But, you must visit your dermatologist for follow up examinations.

I hope you may be satisfied with my answers...

Thanks.
