Suggest treatment for acidity during pregnancy

Question: My wife is 2.5 months pregnant. She is taking treatment for Thyroid(having eltroxin 45 mins before break fast). She is suffering from acidity(complaining the pain after having food). Please suggest.

Hi and thanks for your query.

While your wife is pregnant having increased stomach acidity is very normal because it is caused from changed position of stomach by the increase volume of uterus.

I can help her by giving some tips,like:
1.she should try to sleep with two pillows
2.she should eliminate spicy and fried foods
3.she should eat a little and frequently
4.do not eat before bad

If her symptoms do not relive by using these tips she can contact her doctor to prescribe antiacids.

Two pillows make that her chest and esophagus be higher than stomach and will prevent occurrence of acidity in esophagus.
