Suggest Treatment For A Superficial Bruise On Wrist

default
Posted on Thu, 26 Mar 2015
Question: I've been reading the questions and responses the bruises with a white center. I have a large bruise on the top of my right hand near the wrist on the thumb side of the hand. I have no idea how I got it. I appeared a few days ago. It seems to be going away but this morning I noticed a white spot in the middle. The spot doesn't seem to be a lump but when I press on it, it feels like a bad bruise, while when I press on the normal colored bruise around it, it hardly hurts at all. I recently started taking an antibiotic for a sinus problem (I'm sorry but I can't remember the name of the medication and don't have the bottle handy to find that out) and I am taking an allergy medication as well (Zyrtec). I have Type II diabetes but as far as I know I don't have any blood disease. I've noticed that you told some folks to see a doctor. The advice on another board was to see a doctor right away. What do you think about my particular case? - XXXX

Brief Answer:
It can be dermatitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case. It is good that you are concerned about your health. From your history I think it can be contact dermatitis/insect bite or a bruise due to trivial trauma. But I would like to see a image of this bruise to comment about this. You can send this image through this website. I would also like to know>
1. Are you having any difficulty in wrist movement?
2.Do you also having itching or burning sensation in the bruise?
3. Have you noticed such lesions in the past?
4. Did you traveled in a garden or eat some thing new in last five six days?
Please send me answers of these questions. I will try my best to help you.
thanks

Brief Answer:
This is superficial bruise

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for replying so fast. I have studied your image and answer. I think you are having a superficial bruise. It can occur due to sleeping in wrong position or keeping your wrist in contact with any hard surface like table. It is not a serious problem and It is improving. There is no need to visit doctor at present. I can suggest you following for fast recovery.
1.Hot water fomentation
2.Avoid heavy work from this hand.
3 Avoid any ointment application.
4.Compression bandage can also help.
I hope this bruise will completely dissolve in a week.
let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks
