Brief Answer:
Following questions should be asked.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for getting back. It is unfortunate to note that you are still in pain.

When you meet the neurologist, the following questions should be asked:

1. What is the exact cause of pain?

2. What is the best option to get rid of pain for ever?

3. Will any nerve block or minor surgery to cut the nerve help?

4. Is there any role of repeat MRI scan of brain and spinal cord?

5. What are the good medicines to take to relieve pain- neuropathic pain medications versus opioids versus non opioids?

I also agree that the pain could be related to the nerve trapped in the scar tissue, however, a clinical examination can confirm it.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,

how can a visual, clinical evaluation show if scar tissue is caught between the nerve?

what will another brain MRI and spine MRI show?

does minor surgery mean cutting my scalp open again?

work is very frustrating. I used to be able to do more than handle one item at a time. now I can't handle one item in a timely fashion, leaving the other items open and it's very frustrating. I work for a major, million dollar nursing rehab chain, I work for the president and vice president and I don't know how to explain why i'm having problems finishing my assignments. what do I tell them?

Brief Answer:
Clinical examination would help.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back.

Sometimes, local areas of tenderness or paresthesia on applying pressure over the affected area (scar in this case) would give a clue about the problems. Also, any numbness in the affected area can also help.

MRI of brain and spine would help us know the adequacy of the surgery. In addition, any independent problem such as lack of blood flow to brain or any compression of the cervical nerves can be seen.

No, minor surgery refers to procedures on the nerves that are done to relieve nerve-related pain, and would not involve opening the skull.

You should describe your problems in detail and also that these are affecting your daily life as well as job. I hope a solution would be found soon.

Best wishes,

Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM (Neurology)
