default
Posted on Wed, 22 Jul 2015
Question: This August will mark my daughter's 20th birthday, which means my episiotomy is almost 20 years old. So why, after all these years, am I having pain and bleeding along the scar with intercourse? It's been happening for about 9-10 months now. It feels like it's been pulled or is cracking along the scar.

Brief Answer:
Can be due to vaginal dryness.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The scar tissue always is less stretchable. The pain in the scar tissue can eb due to vaginal dryness or vigorous sex session. The mild bleeding is also likely to be due to local trauma. You can use a good lubrication during sex.
Trying a different position during sex can help.
Also do get yourself examined for any local lesions or scar weakening.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
