Question: hello- for some years I have a tendency to get a feeling of mucus in my upper chest area - oon the left side onlyjust below collarbone.
My lung function is fine, I am fit and exercise daily and dont smoke or drink ( i used to smoke a havana cigar now and then).
Over the last year the symptoms are more pronounced and I seem to have mucus ?sticky phleghm in my throat quite a lot.
When I was 16 I was diagnosed with a hiatus hernia but don't have any gastro symptoms ...
Any ideas what I've got ?!!

Brief Answer:
Better to get done chest x ray first.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
In my opinion, you should first get done chest x ray.
If chest x ray is normal then no need to worry much for this.
Sometimes GERD due to hiatus hernia can give rise to similar symptoms.
So also get a upper GI (gastrointestinal) scopy and if your hiatus hernia is severe then you may need surgical correction of this.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
