Suggest Remedies For Loose Stools While On Nflox TZ

Posted on Mon, 14 Nov 2016
Question: I was prescribed Reditol for loose motion.. Though it helped control the loose motion, but once or twice motion continues to be not solid, though not loose.. It looks like a upset stomach (there is some times a kind of noise from the stomach and or a slight discomfort in the stomach area).
Can I take Norflox Tz along with Reditol to stop this problem? If so what should be the dosage? I have been having only light foods and taking some lemon water, etc.. Thanks

Brief Answer:
Norflox Tz can be given in such case.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM

I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely gastroenteritis. It can be caused by viral or bacterial infections. Antibiotics are initially avoided. It is advised to take fluids and electrolytes according to loss. You can take kefir or curd with rice , banana, yogurt. Usually it will be self limiting and disappear in 3 days time.
Anti-diarrhoea medications like redotil can be taken if loose motion is so frequent. If still it is trouble some then antibiotics like Norflox Tz can be taken. It is available in fixed dose combination of norfloxacin 400mg and tinidazole 600mg. Usual dosage given for diarrhoea is 1 tab twice daily in 12 hour intervals for 3 days. This is a prescription drug.

Hello Doctor
Thanks for the reply
Loose motion is continuing for more than 3-4 days
So I started Norflox Tz today
Should I also take Reditol along with Norflox?
Or is Norflox alone is enough?

Pls clarify
Thx

Brief Answer:
Can take reditol along with Norflox Tz

Detailed Answer:
Welcome again.

Thank you for your follow up query.

If frequency of loose motion is more then you can take reditol along with Norflox Tz. When loose motion become less frequent that time stop taking reditol. In case of loose motion caused by bacteria or protozoa , after the 2nd dose the frequency of diarrhea will decrease usually. Drink cleaner water.
