Question: How can a 86 year old woman quickly lower her blood pressure naturally
if it reaches 180. It is suggested that it is time to get to a hospital.
Is there ways of lowering it quickly, to lower blood pressure, such as a hot bath or a hot pad? 10 days ago it reached 210, and she was treated at emergency room. Last night it reached 180, but in one half hour it was down to 140. Should she have called 911 or taken to the hospital when she first read the 180 number? She saw her doctor a 5 days ago.

Brief Answer:
no natural ways to do that, just stay calm

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

unfortunately there are no immediate ways to lower your blood pressure without using drugs. Garlic does lower it but not too much and not too fast. There are no other proven way s to achieve a lower blood pressure naturally. Sometimes the blood pressure elevation is attributable to psychological stress. Staying calm may 'correct' this problem. Last night's incident was probably related to stress because such a rapid decrease is not expected without medical intervention.

A systolic blood pressure as high as 180mmHg is not a medical emergency unless you've got symptoms of stroke or serious medical problems like aneurysms or severe heart failure. In such cases the high blood pressure may cause rupture of the aneurysm or acute heart failure.

So in conclusion, if you don't have serious problems like stroke symptoms, heart failure and/or aneurysms there is no immediate concern unless the blood pressure becomes too high (200mmHg or higher). Staying calm will help. There is no other immediate natural measure though.

I hope it helps!
Kind Regards!
