Question: Hi Doctor!

In the month of dec we have planning to travel in hill region.

I ofen suffer on winter due to calf and cold, running nose, shore throat, dry calf.

In my pervious tour experience it has been seen that when I stay in colder place we did not have any problem, however we came to a place which is less colder, i started having this problem.

The main problem that I faced in cold place my shore throat! It started with burning sensation as if it has cut somewhere in there, then with dry cough and calfing.

Last time i had clavem 625 anti biotic and it helped some extent.

My request is to please pescribed any medicine/anti-biotic for throat infection and its others effects as mentioned in case the situation aggreviated.

In addtion to that i also have dusy allergy.

Kindly suggest.

Brief Answer:
You seem to have hypersensitivity to cold

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.

You seem to be hypersensitive to temperature change and cold temperature. This is a very common condition in which person develops cough and/or mucous in response to cold temperature.

I dont think antibiotic will be any help in controlling the symptoms. In fact hypersensitivity can get worse with antibiotics.

All you need to do is to protect your airways from cold air flowing in. One way is to wear a warm cloth around your mouth and nose at all times in cold. Second is to keep your room warm with a heater. Drink cleaner water from an RO system during whole trip.

In runny nose tablet cetrizine is helpful. It can be taken 2 times a day.
You can carry clavam alongwith and take only if there is fever, greenish sputum and cough.
Sualin tablets can be soothing.
Also get a complete blood count done to find if there is infection or not.

Hope it helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks for your reply.
I will definitly take care of that.

However, if somehow i get caught with cold which most likely to hit my throat first. Which may result in throat shoaring, dry cough.

In that situation what medicine do you want to prescribe?

Brief Answer:
Can take cough suppressant

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

In case of prominent dry cough, you can take Tusq-D cough lozenges 3-4 times a day. Gargles with warm water will also help. Drinking warmer fluids also useful.

Brief Answer:
Symptomatic treatment of cough and cold

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

The treatment available for managing cough and cold is symptomatic. That means that whenever a particular symptom is present, a suppressant of that symptom is given until the symptom disappears.

For runny nose, sore throat - tablet cetrizine
For dry cough - Tusq-D cough lozenges
For infection symptoms - clavam tablets
For soothening of throat - sualin tablets or vicks lozenges

Hope it makes sense now. Please let me know if anything is still doubtful.
