Suggest Medication For Nocturia
Question: I have nocturnal urinary frequency. This is a side effect of taking pain medication. I am a pain management patient. Dr. XXXXXXX Heijebu from this site says that pain killers cause excess daytime spasms reducing urine frequency and reverse effects at bedtime. This is spot on. Is there a drug that can relax the bladder muscle so that I can urinate during the day because this is interfering with my sleep.

Noctoral Urinary frequency should not occur just because you have decrease frequency in day time.
possible reasons are..
1. low bladder capacity - can be diagnosed by cystometrography (cmg). can be treated by bladder relaxants like solifinacin. you can try this without testing also under guidance of your doctor.
2. renal disease - nephotic syndrome, or renal dysfunction. can be diagnosed by serum creatinine blood test and urine routine test. needs specific treatment after diagnosis by a nephrologists.
3. diabetes mellitus or diabetes incipidus both can cause polyuria and nocturnal frequency. test blood sugar and see urine volume in one full 24 hours.
I think there are many possibilities.
not bringing water from 2 hours before bed time, stop taking coffee, and putting alarm to get up once in night to pass urine. increase temperature of air-conditioning are also helpful measures.
