Suggest Medication For Elevated Post Prandial Glucose Levels

Question: Hi doctor, good afternoon. I am suffering from diabetes for last 10 years. I am taking Glycomet GP2 with a advise from family doctor. My morning sugar level (fasting) is around 100-105; but post lunch sugar is quite high like 265-275. Till some time back I used to take Duotrol SR.
could you suggest some other tablets, thanks

Thanks for the query

It looks like your fasting blood sugar is well controlled but your post prandial glucose needs to be under check.

In such situations there is a wonderful drug known as voglibose. It has to be taken along with food that is while having food. I usually give it during lunch and dinner, this drug makes sure that absorption of carbs are less. It is specifically given in situations where fbs is under check but not post prandial

Doctor, thanks for your reply. Voglibose seems to be generic name. Could tell me trade name and would chemist give this medicine without doctor's prescription.

Good afternoon, I have taken Voglibo 0.2mg for two days. I measured to-day post lunch and the reading has come even higher 315.

Do you think I should wait for some more time to settle with medicine. Pl suggest.
correction name of tablet is VOLIBO 0.2
I have taken one tab y/day after lunch and one after dinner. And one after lunch today.

Hello

Continue to take Volibo, give it sometome to act. Please make sure your diet is not rich in carbohydrates.
It has to be taken along with food not after food. That is, after you take two spoons, swallow the tablet and then continue to eat.

Post prandial is checked two hours after eating.
