Suggest Dosage For Vitamin D Supplement While On Sibelium And Naxdom

default
Posted on Thu, 4 Feb 2016
Question: Hi,

I had vitamin D deficiency so a doctor prescribed Uprise D3 60K Weekly Once. But unfortunately I read the prescription wrongly and took vitamin D daily for 1 week. I have stopped taking Vitamin D3 2 days back.

What could be the consequences of taking Vitamin D wrongly daily for 1 week and should I do.

After 5 days of taking Vitamin D, I had blood in my urine. I earlier also had Urine infection and blood in my urine 1 year back but could this time can it be because of Vitamin D?

Also during this period I was having Naxdom 500 and Sibelium for Migraine and Wellman (multivitamin) and Rabrax LSR for acidity.

Currently I am taking Zerograin Plus and Wellman and Rabrax LSR. I have hypothyroidism but not started any medicine for this.

Could you please help.

Thanks
doctor

Brief Answer:
Get Urine examination done

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.
Hi, I am Dr Anshul Varshney , I have read your query in detail , I understand your concern.
Excessive Vitamin D supplementation can lead to Hypervitaminosis. However, the dose you have taken is not going to harm you. You can skip your Vitamin D supplement and start it again once weekly from next week.
Also, the symptoms of blood in urine that you have got are not at all due to Vitamin D intoxication.\
They seem to be because of Urinary Tract Infection. The common causes of UTI are Diabetes, Stones in renal tract and Sexually transmitted.
So, for the evaluation you need to get an Ultrasound Abdomen and Urine culture done.
Also, get your blood sugars checked, if not done yet.
If any stone is found you would be treated based on size, site of stone.
If Urine infection is found you would be given antibiotics based on culture report.
If you have any ongoing fever, you doctor would take your urine for culture and sensitivity and will start you on antibiotics that would be modified based on the culture report.
You should drink plenty of water.
Rest you can continue all medicines of Migraine as have been advised to you.
However, i would recommend you to avoid pain killers like Naxdom as far as possible.
This is my personal opinion based on details available here. If you still have any other query, you may please ask me.
Stay Healthy.
