Suggest Antibiotic For Minor Burns

Question: Please suggest ointment and antibiotic for a minor burn on the calf area of my 12 year old son. The burn is around one inch x two inches in size and the the top skin is out.

Hello XXXXXXX Thanks for coming to HealthCareMagic. I just want to make sure that you have washed and cleaned the injury with water before applying anything. As long as that has been done, then you can use Neosporin-H which is available over the counter at any pharmacy.

The nice thing about Neosporin-H is that it has antibiotics in it to prevent infection, it also has an anti inflammatory called hydrocortisone which will reduce swelling and pain.
