Question: I have been taking permax for restless legs for 15 years and feel it is contributing to compulsive behavior, i.e, gambling and overeating. Am looking for something else to take for the RLS. Would this be a drug to possiby use.

Brief Answer:
Gabapentin, Pregabalin and sedatives are a possibility.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Pramiprexole and Ropinirole are among most commonly used drugs to treat restless legs syndrome, but these affect dopamine levels in brain and may result too in side effects such behavior changes, gambling etc.

Sedative drugs such clonazepam, zaleplon, and zolpidem may be used.

Gabapentin and Pregabalinpregabalin may work to control restless legs syndrome too.

Please discuss with your Doctor about choosing among these drugs to treat your condition.

Hope you found the answer helpful,

Kind regards.
