Question: Hi Doctor, I have undergone Valve replacement surgery 13 years back and since then I am on Anticoagulant drug Acitrom and Ramistar and Diator. I have a long history of Gout. With the above medications, it is fluctuating a lot. Have severe gout attacks. Doctors say that Acitrom will cause gout and will have to live with it. Is there a permanent solution for this?

Brief Answer:
Gout is mostly associated with Diator than Acitrom. .

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX, Welcome to Health Care Magic,

I've gone through your query and understand your concern. .

Well first of let me tell you that it's mostly Diator which is associated with hyperuricemia and / Gout than Acitrom. . Since you're already on both the medications it's most likely a combined effect of them..

Please share some more details so that I can guide you through this in a better way :

How is your current kidney function? ?

Tell me about your valve replacement surgery.
What all valves have been replaced ??
What was type of the valve/s (bioprosthetic or mechanical ) ??

If possible please upload your latest investigation reports (mainly KFT, Coagulation profile and other metabolic profiles ) along with the baseline reports (means the general trend of value of those same parameters in of you)..

Also try to find out whether there's ant recent changes in the medications / diet / lifestyle which might be worsening this......

Yes Febuxostat is a safer option. So please continue it..

Are you trying any analgesic? If not then I'll advice you to start with Tab PARACETAMOL 500MG three times a day after food if the Kidney function is fine..

It'll help with the pain..

Please provide all those answers so that I can opine further. .

Awaiting for your reply. .

Take Care
Regards
