Hi there

Thanks for the query

Is the lesion itchy or scaly?

Do your remember how the lesion occurred?

Do you remember sustaining an insect bite?

Have you had/have such lesions anywhere else on your body?

Since its been there since 3 weeks, it's more likely a chronic inflammatory lesion. It could be due to any cause such as infection, dermatitis or arthritic lesion (less probability of arthritic lesion due to your young age).

If you could answer the above questions, I would be in a better position to help you.

Thanks and regards.

Hi,

It was about 3 weeks ago in one evening. I had been outside for a run and sat down at the dinner table to eat and noticed it was quite itchy all of a sudden. This lasted for the first day or so. It isn't anymore. I don't remember an insect bite. It's not scaly and isn't anywhere else on my body.

Thanks

It appears to be a rash likely due to trauma leading to chronic inflammation. I would suggest applying dry cool ice packs to it. Try Anti inflammatory medication like Ibuprofen for relief. It would be best to get it shown to a Dermatologist to rule out infection as certain ointments can aggravate this lesion if it's an infection.

Thanks. Given that it was extremely itchy when it first occurred (but only for the first day) could this also not be some kind of contact irritation? Is it common to get rashes after an injury ?

Best

Contact dermatitis is a possibility. Beds further investigation by a Dermatologist. Trauma can cause similar picture but then you'd remember the trauma.
