Brief Answer:
May be due to muscle sprain. Follow up with a bit more information

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have gone through your query and here is my advice.

As per your history, it may be due to muscle sprain.

For that continue tablet Tylenol or alternatively you can take tablet motrin (Ibuprofen) 400 mg every 8 hourly. Apply diclofenac gel locally. Heating pads will also help. Still kindly follow up with a bit more information.

Please let me know do you have history of injury or trauma to neck, numbness or tingling sensation in upper limbs?

In that case you may require MRI neck, nerve conduction studies, vitamin B12 level after detailed medical examination and spine surgeon opinion to rule out cervical spondylosis or nerve compression.

Along with that restrict your neck movements. Take proper rest.

Hope I have answered your query and let me know if I can assist you further... Thank you.

Regards,
Dr Shyam Kale

The pain has gone into my back and under the left shoulder blade, I'm feeling nauseated with a slight fever of 100.2. The pain is also extending into the top of the left arm. I have had surgery on my lower back, but this is something new. I have had migraine headaches, but this is a totally different pain. Just breathing and swallowing causes pain. Getting out of bed is quite distressing. I have taken a hand towel and have fashioned a neck brace out of that.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

As per your history, for fever kindly continue tablet acetaminophen 500 mg every 8 hourly and tablet ondensetron 4 mg for nausea. Kindly continue diclofenac gel with heating pads. Do saline or Betadine gargles twice a day.

In case of not getting relief you may require electrocardiogram with MRI neck, nerve conduction studies after detailed medical examination and physician's opinion.

Hope I have answered your query and let me know if I can assist you further... Thank you.
