Question: My mother in law aged 79 has to undergo cataract operation. Surgeon had recommended ECG and blood test. The reports are enclosed. The ECG report is not normal. Wanted to know what exactly does the report mean. And whether the cataract operation can go ahead with this.

I went through the attached ECG. The ECG is abnormal and shows q wave in inferior leads medically suggestive of old heart attack. She should go for 2D Echo of heart for further evaluation and prognostication.
