My Grandson Is 6 Months Old And Is Having Chronic
Question: My Grandson is 6 months old and is having chronic ear infections. My daughter doesn’t want to continuing giving antibiotics and Dr is talking about surgery for tubes. What can be done Ayurvedic to help this situation? The last check he had improved slightly but still has fluid behind the eardrum. He has had multiple infections and recently had the flu.

Thanks for contacting the Ayurveda section of [A]YUSH and after reviewing your case history I'm of the following opinion:
i. chronic ear infection with the build-up of fluid points towards middle ear infection [chronic otitis media with effusion]? and because eustachian tube is small and level in children than adults thus are more prone towards ear infection.
ii. considering his age [6 months], only Ayurveda medicine which I can recommend to strengthen his Immune system [to fight against infection] is 'Suvarnaprashan' which helps increase Immunity.
iii. At his age, it is best to remain under the constant guidance and supervision of his attending Physician and make sure to vaccinate him against flu every year, and avoid smoke of any kind near him and avoid him being bottle fed at night.
