I read your query and here is my advice.
It is true that if you are having uncontrolled diabetes it will make healing proces longer.
You may need to clean well the wound with warm water, apply betadine disinfectant , use antibiotic ointment on it.
Cover wound with a bandage.
Also if the wound is infected you may need to take oral antibiotics.

You can use amoxicillin clavulonate 625 three times per day for 7 days.
Or use levofloxacine 500 mg once daily for 7 days. Both of them are antibiotics and taken under doctor's guidance.
