Is Taking Vitamin D Supplement On A Regular Basis Harmful For Health?

Posted on Wed, 10 May 2017
Question: I purchased a Vitamin D, and realized that it has other ingredients in it. They are as follows. I want to limit any supplements to food amounts. Would you know if these are food amounts or the other ingredients? Would taking this vitamin every other day be safe long term?

Brief Answer:
Yes,you can take vitamin D supplements daily without any kind of problems..

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking Healthcaremagic.

I saw the product that you want to use and the other ingredients used in this tablet, are just to hold the tablet itself. There is nothing to be worried here.

According to the daily usage of Vitamin D. Studies have shown that using Vitamin D in lower doses each day, doesn't harm your body.
1 tablet of Vitamin D 1000 UI is safe to be taken daily. If the dose gets higher than you need to check up for the calcium levels in your blood.

Higher doses than 4000 UI daily can interfere with the balance of calcium (excessive amount of calcium in blood and in the kidneys)

Side effects of taking too much vitamin D include weakness, headache ,dry mouth ect. In your case the dose is considered a lower one,so I don't think that there is anything to be worried here.

But remember: You should eat healthy. Taking Vitamin D does not mean that you should stop eating milk products (cheese for ex) or to avoid exposing at the sun.

There are no proof that using vitamin D for long periods can harm your body. But you need to consult your physician every 6 months or 1 year if you want to use this supplements without stop.

If you have any other question, feel free to ask me.

Thank you for your reply. I am confident about the Vitamin D, but was concerned about the other ingredients:
S. cerevisiae (source of naturally occurring beta glucans & glutathione)
Organic Broccoli (natural source of sulforaphane)     253 mg     *
Nourishing Whole Food Blend
Organic Parsley, Organic Carrot, Organic Beet Root, Organic Rice XXXXXXX 77 mg

beta glucans, glutathione, beet root? Are 253 mg and 77 mg of these too much? When I look things up on Web MD, everything seems to be only "possibly safe".

Brief Answer:
Yes it is safe to use it...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back.
I will start from the bottom. I understand that you have done researches around the web and the reason why everything seems to be only "possibly safe" is because from all the studies that have been done it is not possible to correlate the use of this tablet (with the ingredients that you have mentioned) with any kind of side effect.
All the ingredients that you have mentioned here, are organic. It means that our body will absorb the amount that it needs, and the rest will just be expelled as waste in our colon or kidneys. And with that dose you are safe and there is nothing to be worried.

Also since this tabled is approved by FDA that means that tests have been done to check for side effects of using these kind of products even in long term usage.
