Is Surgery Advisable For Broken Knee Cap?
Question: Hi: last Sunday my wife broke her knee cap. Doctor (surgron) asked us to decide whether surgery or not (borderline). We dont have enough datapoints. Any view much appreciated.Txs. XXXXXXX

I have seen the attached X-ray. The fractured fragments of patella are well placed. There is no displacement. This can heal well without a surgical fixation. Putting a cast for 4 weeks will help in proper healing.
It is best to avoid the surgery for now and let the bone heal on its own naturally in the cast.
