Question: Is it safe to get Derma fillers against? After a traumatic experience with an inexperienced injector from juvederm I still have discoloration around mouth. After dissolving three times I have volume loss. The stress hasn’t help my face.

I can’t bekive I’m considering this but I may have fillers again to restore volume but with an experienced plastic surgeon. This time in cheek area. What are the risk factors in cheek area? I seemd to have has an inflammatory response before. Is that caused by filler or superficial injections? Just trying to weigh out risk factors. Thank you!

Brief Answer:
Regarding filler and dermaroller

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The experience of a cosmetologist or a plastic surgeon greatly influences the cosmetic end result. Although minor bruising, swelling and pain are quite expected but rare side effects like nodules and bluish discoloration ( tyndall effect) usually happen with too superficial injections either by an inexperienced surgeon or wrong technique of injection. This would usually require intervention to dissolve the filler with either injection hyaluronidase or intralesional corticosteroids. Though, hyaluronidase doesn't lead to any excess volume loss other than the filler itself, however, intralesional corticosteroids may lead to a temporary volume loss/ atrophy by breaking down tissue protein and extracellular matrix. The volume loss from filler dissolving therapy usually recovers spontaneously over few weeks. However, Dermaroller may certainly help in resolving this volume loss by helping regenerate tissue extracellular matrix and synthesis of new dermal protein.

Hope I have answered your query.

Thank you so much for your thorough response.

Do you think a professional microneedling session with prp would help regeneration/volume loss?

One more questions. Is the cheek area consider a high risk area for fillers if I go that route?
