Is It Possible To Get Precordial Catch Syndrome As An Adult?
Question: Is it possible to get precordial catch syndrome as an adult? The description of what it is fits the symptoms I just had where I had a sharp pain in the left side of my chest, especially when breathing in, so I had to breath in a shallow way and relax. I felt a popping sort of sensation, which was scary, and then it kind of dissipated. I just went to the doctor yesterday about a nerve pain in my left hand, and she said it was probably just inflammation. Could it be related?

when this kind of pain is attributed to serious disorders (like pericarditis, pulmonary embolism, pleuritis, etc.) then we don't expect it to just disappear. We expect a constant and hard to treat symptom that may last for days. Sharp pains that come and go and last for a few seconds cannot be diagnosed usually. All testing is negative in most cases. This kind of syndrome (the precordial catch syndrome) is a likely cause. It is supposed to be related to nerve irritation for various reasons. Sometimes nerve pain can be short in duration and may come and go even in seconds.
I don't see any relation to your hand symptoms though.
