Is It Correct To Take Pioglitazoe When Having Diabetes?

Question: I am 56 years old. I have type 2 Diabetes. I am taking Gliclazide 80mg - 1-1-X . My results after thse doses are Fasting 140 and PP 180. My doctor has suggested to take additional dose of Pioglitazone 15mg 1-x-x. Is it correct to have Pioglitazoe?

Good to take metformin and gliptins.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Friend, greetings from HCM.
You can discuss with your doctor to add gliptins and metformin. unless you are allergic to those drugs.
Get your HbA1c and microalbuminuria done.
What ever are your drugs finally you need lifestyle changes which are main stay for management of diabetes.
Devide your meal in to 4 or 5 small parts. In between 2 snacks. Take more of green leafy vegetables, fruit s and oats. Millets like ragi , bajra, sorghum, barley , wheat are very good source s of micro nutrients .
Avoid too much of carbohydrates and take more proteins.
Do exercise , at least walk for An hour a day.

Thanks for your answer.
I have had problems with metfomin and had to discontinue. Can you suggest any other medicine. You have not commented on Pioglitazone?

Dear friend, greetings. You did not tolerate metfoin ? Ok why cant you try Sitagliptin or vildagliptins . new class of oral anti diabetic agents. Well accepted all over the world.
Pioglitazone has lots of conflicts for high dose and long term use.. still. 15 mg is OK if you are tolerating. But I will advice you to try gliptins first.
