Brief Answer:
Mild swelling is normal.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
A mild soft tissue swelling is normal after an injury. If the function of the leg and foot are normal and there is no pain then there is no need to worry. This swelling will gradually decrease with the normal activity. Nothing to worry about.
I hope this answers your query.

Hi Doc,

Its more that a Mild swelling but a manageable one. I can walk with it but mostly limp with it. The injured area is my ankle and swollen area is on the both sides of the ankle. I had 3 stitches over the ankle but no fractures but the foot was swollen like anything as if there was any fracture. 3 X-rays were taken but no fracture was identified. I was only able to step down my foot after 1.5 months and still the swelling is there. I'm still limping due to the swelling I believe, is there any medication which I you can prescribe for a speedy recovery? What precautions should I take in this case?

Regards,

Brief Answer:
MRI scan needed to rule out ligament injury.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
If you are limping while walking and the swelling is more than mild then a ligament injury is likely. This can be ruled out only after an MRI scan of the ankle joint. The swelling will subside once all the soft tissue injuries heal. It needs a complete rest for the tissues to heal properly. Do get an MRI scan done to confirm the proper healing.
Hope my answer is helpful.
