Question: Hi, my wife had been having irregular heavy bleeding since a couple of months. She has delivered baby girl nine months ago and had her first period after 6 month, since then it has been irregular. upon diagnosis, we got to know she has bulky uterus with endometrial thickness 25mm and polycystic ovaries. she was advised to take ovral L, menohelp syrup, gynae CVT, Hergrace tabs and ovabless tabs. she is having her period now after stopping ovral L but d bleeding is heavy and painful. is this normal? please advice. She was earlier given progenova which did not help to control the bleeding and then was given ovral L. Regards Aquil

Brief Answer:
She needs to be further evaluated by the Gynecologist...

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Ovral L is basically combined oral contraceptive pills...Yes, painful bleeding can be there in Polycystic ovaries...However, this 25mm endometrial thickness needs to be compared and assessed with previous USG's and since the pain and heavy bleeding is persisting she should be undergone for the further gynecological check-up, the excessive bleeding needs to be controlled as well...

She may benefit from procedures like D&C...Please discuss this with her Gynecologist...

Meanwhile, continue all the medications as already advised by the Gynecologist...Additionally, she can take mild pain-killer like Tab PARACETAMOL 650mg three times daily after food...If she's not lactating anymore, then you may also discuss with the gynecologist regarding starting of prescription based analgesic like Mefenamic Acid for pain control.

Hope this helps...

Kind Regards
